Doubt is such a powerful enemy, and it’s a weapon aimed at the core of our spiritual work all the time.
Your hard work doesn’t matter. You’re focusing on the wrong things. No one cares. You’re wasting your time. You’re ineffective. You don’t have the resources to do that. You’re one giant pretender. You’re broke. You’re a joke.
Do any of those sound all too familiar?
Doubt is meant to discourage, distract, take our eyes off the goal, and redirect our energy toward something less effective.
So when doubt creeps in, we need to be prepared to recognize what the attack is actually trying to do. Is it pulling you away from your God-given passion, talents, and calling? That’s red flag number one. Is it showing up as discouragement, burnout, or negativity? Red flag number two. Is it diminishing who you are and trying to define you with a false identity? Another red flag.
Acknowledge it. Don’t pretend it isn’t there. But then give it to God and ask Him what He wants you to do with it. You were never meant to fight this battle alone. And in the end, that truth should give you the confidence to make sure doubt isn’t the thing leading your next steps on the journey.
